This WRCCA Mini class kit car was designed from the ground up for competition use.
Starting with the axles, we needed abuse proof axles, strong enough for the power of the Stumpy motor on 3s or even 4s power. These axles also needed great ground clearance, so the DX44 center section was an easy choice, paired with ultra compact 3/8" high strength tubes, and all new C hubs. They also needed extreme steering angles, so Dlux knuckles, and FBA axle shafts were chosen. They needed lots of weight down low, so our extra heavy knuckle lowers fit the bill, along with a very low mounted servo. They needed to be narrow to stay far away from those pesky gates, so a new width was chosen, capable of getting down near 8" overall width.
Next up was the transmission. We needed an ultra narrow belly width, but also needed our favorite amount of overdrive, 38% (28% from the trans and 10% from the rear axle). Huge horsepower was a must, so the Stumpy motor was a perfect choice. Weight is a large concern for minis in particular so an ultra light open concept was chosen. The result was a new ultra compact, extremely lightweight transmission with 28% overdrive, and all the buttery smoothness to keep you zipping between the gates faster than the other guy. Last but not least, 5mm, grade 5 titanium output shafts and heat treated alloy steel gears mean this tranny can really take a pounding.
The chassis is the heart of the truck. This is where all the parts come together and bring this beast to life. Carbon fiber, of course. Perfect shock geometry, sure, why not. Link geometry is the key to stability, predictability, and pure climbing ability. No stone was left unturned in the search for perfect link geometry, and the result is clear every time you drive this truck. Any Mini driver knows that rollovers are a large concern. We put a lot of effort into upside down driving. A Lattice Innovations Derrnger body was chosen because it's rounded shape, narrow roof width, and smooth lines really help it glide over the rocks while clownin' and upside downin'. Also it's less overall weight, and less weight up high compared to bodiless designs. Our new compact offset shock caps also help to keep the shocks out of the way for inverted driving.
What does it all mean? All these great new parts combine to mean this is simply the most fun mini you will ever drive.
