The Axial® AXP8 Gilamon® Shock Tuning and Rebuild Kit is a specialized kit for maintaining and optimizing the performance of AXP8 Gilamon shocks. It includes various tuning springs, plungers, and rebuild parts to ensure smooth suspension operation. This kit helps improve shock performance and allows for fine-tuning to match different terrains and driving styles.

Fine Tuning

Tuning the shock springs and plungers in RC rock crawlers is crucial for optimizing suspension performance, traction, and stability on rough terrain. Shock springs control the stiffness of the suspension, with softer springs allowing for better articulation and grip, while stiffer springs provide more support for high-speed crawling and heavy rigs. The plunger (or piston) inside the shock affects damping by regulating how fast the shock compresses and rebounds. Smaller holes in the piston slow oil flow, increasing damping for smoother descents and reducing chassis sway, while larger holes allow faster movement for improved responsiveness. By adjusting the spring and plunger, drivers can fine-tune their crawler’s suspension to handle various obstacles, ensuring maximum performance on rocks, mud, and trails.
